Thank you and Dirty Talk

We are meeting with the oncologist today to discuss my customized treatment plan moving forward. Before all of that, I want to take a moment to really thank ALL of you for your continued love, support and well wishes. The Sherman family would not be able to navigate this road if it wasn’t for friends and family, near and far. We are humbled by the messages, texts, calls, cards, flowers, food, and offers to help in any way possible. This includes people that have reached out that we don’t even know personally. We are so lucky to have such a strong support system near us that allow us to keep life moving, especially for the kids.

My parents, who coincidentally moved back to Huntley from Michigan in November. They’ve been so gracious in picking up kids from the bus, feeding them dinner, getting them to/from baseball and keeping them overnight when I was in the hospital.
Brian’s parents, driving down from Tomah to stay with us for a week, making sure dinner is on the table and kids have completed homework.
Our friends and neighbors, dropping off food, or taking turns bringing boys to/from baseball. It’s true, it takes a Village to help a family keep going when they’ve been sent on a detour of life. That’s what this is, it’s just a detour on our life journey.
Finally, thank you to all of the brave warrior woman who have shared their stories with me. While we each have our own individual stories, we all share one thing in common. We are all Breast Cancer Warriors! For me personally, in case you didn’t pick up on this already, I plan on being very public so I may help other women navigating this scary time. It is the stories that have been shared with me that is also giving me the strength to talk more freely.
There are experiences during this journey (and I’ve only just begun) that are scary or seemingly embarrassing. Luckily, I had these women to ask my questions to, whether they were prepared for the questions or not.
Did I need to get a toilet bidet? I didn’t.
Should I take stool softener? YES!
Will I be able to wash my hair? I can’t, so I’ve gone to the salon just for a hair wash and dry.
Will I be able to shower? Some can, I still can’t. They suggest a sponge bath, I call it a whore’s bath (it’s a phrase, look it up).
You’ll be happy to know though, I do change my clothes and spray myself with anti-bacterial fabric spray out of respect. You’re welcome.
If you were really lucky, you even got a text when I finally 💩! Now you’re really welcome! You and I, we are THAT much closer, you can’t even erase that from your head.

Here are some of the beautiful flowers I received. Sorry if I didn’t capture them all.
